How to get to Catania (Sicily Island)

BY PLANE

Catania has the main airport for Sicily and scheduled and charter planes arrive from destinations throughout Italy and Europe.  Sicily has two principal airports: Catania ("Fontanarossa Airport") located in the west and Palermo in the east.  Catania Airport:  Fontanarossa Airport is only 5 km from Catania. A bus service connects the airport with the town's every twenty minutes. Palermo Airport: Palermo is the  regional capital. The following airlines provide low-cost flights to/from  Sicily . Low-cost Airlines     AIRLINES: Look up the international airlines which operate flights to and from Catania.   International Airport Catania :http://www.aeroporto.catania.it/ Sicily and Catania  Airlines   BY  FERRY   Port, Charters & Island Cruising BY TRAIN Frequent trains run up the east coast to and from Taormina (but the station is a long walk below the town) and Messina, then on to Naples and Rome etc. Trains also run to Enna, Palermo (slower than the buses) and Syracuse. A scenic route runs inland to Caltagirone and Gela. The railway station is 10 minutes walk from the city centre. BY  BUS Autolinee  Frequent buses run to Taormina, Messina, Enna, Caltanissetta and  Syracuse. Less frequent buses run to local destinations, Naples, Rome etc. The main bus station is opposite the railway station and 10 minutes walk from the city centre.
