WORKSHOPS
There
will be a variety of different workshops during IADAT-TCN2006
that will focus on various topics. The workshops will cover
both academic and industrial topics of particular relevance
to telecommunications and computer networks. Experts are invited
to submit proposals for workshops to the Organising
Chairman as soon as possible. |

Workshop:
MATLAB:
Introduction, Features & Advanced Application in Telecoms
& Computer Modelling |
|
This
workshop on MATLAB will be given by experts from MathWorks.
The workshop will cover the basic introduction to MATLAB and
proceed to provide an advanced tutorial and demonstration
of the advanced features in MATLAB. The demonstration will
illustrate the ease with which MATLAB can be used to do modelling
and simulation, interface MATLAB applications with different
hardware devices and implement advance signal processing.
Who
Should Attend?
Anyone
who uses software for data acquisition, processing, analysis,
presentation, and graphics. The rapid development and integration
of different systems and technologies (e.g. FPGA, DSP, etc.)
in MATLAB means that it has something to offer every delegate.
Did you know that MATLAB has compilers that can be used to
compile your MATLAB programs into C, C++, etc.

Applied
Wave Research

Applied
Wave Research launched its first product in 1998 and is now
a leading supplier of high-frequency electronic design automation
(EDA) products for the design of wireless telecommunications
equipment, semiconductors, high-speed computers, networking
systems, and a variety of other electronics-based products.
The company has developed a revolutionary, future-facing product
architecture and open software platform that embodies years
of knowledge and expertise in RF, microwave and millimeter
wave design applications, and delivers a new level of design
automation and productivity improvement not possible in any
other design system on the market today.
Delegates
will be introduced to microwave circuit technology starting
from circuit simulation (modelling), design and optimisation,
layout, through to PCB production using AWR software products.
The tutorial is tailored for delegates in both academic and
industrial sectors that want to use a single environment to
simulate, implement, and build microwave devices.
Who
Should Attend?
This
workshop is designed for microwave engineers, electronic engineers,
researchers, students, communication systems engineers, academic
and industrial representatives, interested in high frequency
devices and systems. The workshop is also an opportunity for
professional development to all engineers.

Workshop:
Computer
and Storage Clustering for High Speed Networks (and/or Input
and Output Virtualisation)
|
|
Xyratex
is a leading provider of enterprise class data storage subsystems
and network technology. Building on over 20 years of research
and development experience in disk drive development, storage
systems and high-speed communication protocols. They design
and manufacture enabling technology that provides their OEM
(Original Equipment Manufacturer) and disk drive manufacturer
customers with data storage products to support high-performance
storage and data communication networks.
Xyratex
uses "high-speed" FPGA devices to implement giga-bit
network and data storage devices. The workshop will provide
an opportunity for delegates to learn about the technologies
that are driving "Storage & Network Systems and Storage
Infrastructure" market places. The workshop will provide
inside into the research, development, technologies, application,
and network and storage infrastructure from an industrial
perspective.
Who
Should Attend?
If
you work, research or have interest in any aspect of computer
networks and storage infrastructures, data access and management,
FPGA, DSP, and high-speed systems design and implementation,
this workshop will be for you. Come and learn from expert
who are at the forefront of high-speed storage and network
technologies.

Extended
Presentation: Software
Defined Radio: An Industrial Perspective
(ASTRIUM) |
|
This
presentation will be given by EADS ASTRIUM in Portsmouth,
which is part of EADS SPACE. EADS SPACE is a global space
industry leader, with world-class expertise and extensive
prime contractorship experience across all sectors of the
space business – a complete range of launch capabilities,
orbital systems and manned space activities, satellite systems,
payloads and equipment for a vast range of civil and military
applications, and a wide portfolio of space-based services.
This
extended presentation will address the different technologies
and architectures of Software Defined Radio (SDR). The design,
implementation and challenges of SDR will be presented, drawing
examples from several years of experience with these and related
systems in space, military and civilian applications.
Who
Should Attend?
If
you work, do research or have an interest in system design,
digital signal processing, FPGA, telecommunication, etc.,
or you are an electronic engineer or someone who wants to
know about the direction of electronic and communication systems,
this presentation is for you. This will provide a unique forum
for SDR questions to be answered.
