"The transformation of a city"
The
IADAT International Conference on Automation, Control and
Instrumentation has been held from February 2nd to 4th, 2005,
at the Euskalduna
Congress Centre in Bilbao (Spain).
WORLD'S
BEST CONGRESS CENTRE 2003" Apex Award
|

|
The
International Association of Congress Centres (AIPC) has awarded the Apex Award for “2003
World’s Best Congress Centre” to the Palacio de
Congresos y de la Música Euskalduna Jauregia in Bilbao. |
Bilbao is a city that is undergoing continues
transformation process
and it is the financial center of the Basque Country. Bilbao,
strategically situated on the Bay of Biscay, is located in the
middle of the Atlantic Arc, to the west of the Pyrenees, on the
north coast of Spain and only one hour by car from the French
border. Its metropolitan area groups together a population of one
million inhabitants, although if we consider its hinterland within
a radius of 400 km, the population is increased up to 16
million people.
The
capital of Biscay, Bilbao, has a very good communications
network by air,
land and sea, enabling it to meet the travel requirements and
preferences of its visitors. Several airlines operate regular
services between Bilbao and the most important European capitals,
and it is also connected to the European railway and road networks.
Moreover, the Port of Bilbao has a regular ferry link with the
United Kingdom and is an occasional call for many Atlantic cruises.
